@Noemie: Yeah, I'm versed in the actual history of the place. This is a work of fiction. Please refer to the site disclaimer: http://innerarity.wordpress.com/site-disclaimer/

Innerarity Island was given to John Innerarity, Jr in 1815 by the Governments of his day. After his death in 1854, his children later sold the Island. John Innerarity, Jr was born in Brechin, Scotland and came to America in 1802 to work for his Maternal Uncle William Panton and his famous historical Trading Firm of Panton, Leslie and Company and it's successor Firm, John Forbes and Company after the death of his Uncle. John Innerarity, Jr was educated in London as an Attorney and was later made Alderman of Pensacola, FL by Andrew Jackson and was Vice Consul to France. He spoke nine different languages, one being of Indian dialect. A Historical Plaque can be found at John Innerarity's gravesite today which mentions his being given this land in 1815.
